Jan Schneider

Jan Schneider (born 1978) is an honorary professor for Ensemble (Jazz/Pop/Experimental) at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf. He studied jazz trumpet with Andy Haderer at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne and was a member of both the State Youth Jazz Orchestra of North Rhine-Westphalia and the German Federal Jazz Orchestra under Peter Herbolzheimer. A sought-after lead trumpeter, he has performed at renowned festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival and Jazz Open Stuttgart, touring internationally in countries including South Africa, South Korea, and India. He has collaborated with artists such as Lalo Schifrin, Paquito D’Rivera, Max Mutzke, the WDR Big Band, and Brings. Currently, he performs with the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, Tom Gaebel & Band, and the Thilo Wolf Bigband, among others. With over 20 years of experience as a music educator, Jan Schneider teaches at the Offene Jazzhausschule in Cologne and at universities in Cologne and Düsseldorf, and regularly leads workshops for brass ensembles, big bands, and orchestras.
