Bass trombonist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
Mark Gaal began his musical education at the age of seven with tenor horn and later trombone lessons at the Central Music School in Oberwart. In 1992, he started studying trombone with Erik Hainzl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Oberschützen). After winning several prizes at “Jugend musiziert,” he completed his concert diploma with distinction in 2000. Masterclasses with renowned trombonists such as Joseph Alessi and Carsten Svanberg complemented his education. As a versatile musician, he is a founding member of phil Blech Wien, part of the Vienna Trombone Ensemble, and active in jazz. Since 2007, he has taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and is in demand internationally as a lecturer.
In addition to his work with the orchestra, Mark Gall is also a member of the Vienna Trombone Ensemble and the “Ensemble xx. jahrhundert”, and performs with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Clemencic Consort, Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble Vienna, Musikwerkstatt Wien and the Vienna Pocket Opera, testifying to his wide-ranging musical interests. Since 2007, as assistant to Dietmar Küblböck, he has held teaching responsibilities at Vienna's University of Music and Performing Arts.
